Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how FebCloud (“we”) handles information related to the FebHop app (the “App”) and this website. FebHop is a FebCloud product, with technical support provided by FebCloud.
1. Our approach
We collect as little as possible. FebHop’s window management runs locally on your computer and does not read the contents of your windows. An account is optional: every window feature works without signing in.
2. Information stored on your computer
To work, the App stores these settings locally on your computer:
- Shortcuts you record or change
- Window positions and sizes on each display
- One-key targets: the apps, websites and files you choose and the Terminal commands you enter
- Steps and coordinates for advanced actions
- Preferences such as appearance and language
- Usage statistics not yet submitted and, once you sign in, your sign-in credential (kept in the macOS keychain or Windows Credential Manager)
Apart from the account, cloud backup, usage statistics and purchase information described below, these settings are not uploaded to our servers. You can change or delete them in the App at any time.
3. FebHop account
You can sign in to a FebHop account with a code sent to your email. There is no password to set, and your first sign-in creates the account. The App and this website share the same account. We process:
- Your email address, to sign you in and send service emails
- Sign-in codes and credentials: the server stores only cryptographic hashes of them. Codes are valid for 10 minutes; the App’s credential expires after 180 days without use
- A random password the server creates for the account at registration (stored only as a hash); you never need to know it
- Device information: a randomly generated installation ID, your computer’s name and model, the system and App versions, and when the device was first and last used
We use this information for sign-in, cloud backup and device management, and to show your number of devices and total actions on your account page. You can remove devices, sign out or delete the account in the App or on the website. Deleting the account also deletes its device records and every cloud backup. Order records are kept for accounting and tax purposes but are no longer linked to you.
4. Configuration and cloud backups
You can export your configuration from the App as a JSON backup file saved wherever you choose. A backup contains your launch profiles (including Terminal commands you entered), shortcuts, app placements and preferences, plus information that identifies the backup: a randomly generated installation ID, your computer’s name, the system and App versions, and the creation time.
When signed in, you can upload the same backup to the cloud or turn on a daily automatic backup. Backups are kept in private storage with our object storage provider (UCloud US3, California region, United States), and uploads and downloads use signed links that are valid for a few minutes. The cloud keeps 7 days of backups and always the newest one from each device; a backup identical to the previous one is not stored again. You can download or delete cloud backups in the App or on the website at any time.
Cloud backups are not end-to-end encrypted. They are protected by private storage, encryption in transit and short-lived links. Backups may contain sensitive information such as Terminal commands, so do not put passwords directly in commands.
5. Usage statistics
To understand how features are used and improve the product, the App counts how many times each feature is used per day, for example “Left half, 12 times.” It also notes the first day you use the App and the days it is opened, so we can see how many people are still using it after a day or a week. Statistics never include app names, window contents, addresses, files, Terminal commands or typing. On first launch the App explains what is counted and asks whether to send anonymous statistics; nothing is sent before you choose. You can turn them off anytime in App Settings › Usage statistics, which also deletes anonymous counts not yet sent.
- Counts are kept on your computer and sent in batches about every 30 minutes when online. While offline they are kept until the next successful submission
- Anonymous statistics use a randomly generated statistics ID that is unrelated to your account and installation ID. The server stores only a truncated cryptographic value derived from it, to count how many people use each feature per day and how many keep using the App. Per-feature, per-day details are deleted after 90 days; only daily totals are kept
- When signed in, the App also sends each device’s total number of actions per day (without per-feature details). This is linked to your account and device and shown on your account page. Actions counted while signed out are sent after you sign in
6. Ads
After a certain number of actions in a day, the free version shows FebHop’s own ads from time to time; we manage their content ourselves. We use no third-party ad networks, do not target ads using your personal information, and do not track you across apps or websites. When an ad appears depends on the day’s action count on your computer. Ad views, clicks and reports are counted in the anonymous statistics above. Pro users do not see ads.
7. Purchases
Pro is available through in-app purchase on the Apple App Store (Mac) and the Microsoft Store (Windows), as a one-time purchase or a monthly auto-renewing subscription. Apple or Microsoft processes the payment and we never receive your payment details.
On the Mac, to confirm and restore purchases, manage orders and send purchase confirmation emails, we receive transaction information from Apple, such as the product, transaction ID, purchase and expiration dates, renewal status, and any refund or revocation. If you buy while signed in, the App gives Apple your account’s random user ID as a purchase identifier (appAccountToken) so the order can be linked to your account. Purchases belong to your Apple Account, not to your FebHop account.
On Windows, the App checks your Pro license with the Microsoft Store on your PC. We do not currently receive Microsoft Store transaction information. Purchases belong to your Microsoft account, not to your FebHop account.
8. Email
We send only service emails: sign-in codes, registration confirmations and purchase confirmations. We never send marketing email. Messages are sent through our business email provider (Tencent Exmail). We log when each message was sent, the recipient, the message type and the result, for troubleshooting.
9. System permissions
When needed, the Mac App asks for:
- Automation access to control Shortcuts, used to move and resize windows
- Notifications, used to report the result of an action
- Read-only access to apps and files you choose, used by one-key open
- Write access to the location you choose in the save panel, used only to export configuration backups
- Network access to hop.feb.sg, for the account, cloud backups, usage statistics, ads and purchase sync
Terminal commands, advanced actions and the Full Screen layout run through optional shortcuts you import separately. The Accessibility access they need is granted to Shortcuts, not to FebHop itself. You can turn off any permission at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
The optional Dock lock needs no permission. While it is on, the App compares the pointer position with the edges of your displays and, at the bottom edge of a display other than the one you chose, moves the pointer back up. Pointer positions are not recorded, stored or sent.
On Windows, the App moves and resizes windows and performs advanced actions through standard Windows interfaces. It needs no Shortcuts and asks for no additional permissions. Its network access is used for the same purposes.
10. This website
This website uses no ad trackers or third-party analytics. It uses one cookie to remember your language and your browser’s local storage to remember your appearance choice (light or dark). When you sign in, a session cookie keeps you signed in and protects against cross-site request forgery. Like any website, the hosting server may keep access logs, such as IP address, time of visit and browser type, for security and troubleshooting.
11. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell your personal information. Unless the law requires otherwise, we share information only as needed to provide the services above, with these providers:
- Apple and Microsoft, to process purchases, subscriptions and refunds in their app stores
- UCloud, to store cloud backups
- Tencent Exmail, to send service emails
- Our server host, to run this website and the service the App uses
Our servers and object storage may be located outside your country or region.
12. Data retention
- Account and device information: until you remove the device or delete the account
- Sign-in codes: valid for 10 minutes and cleaned up regularly after they expire
- Cloud backups: 7 days, always keeping the newest one from each device; all are deleted with the account
- Usage statistics: per-feature, per-day details for 90 days, then only daily totals; the account’s daily action counts until the account is deleted
- Order records: kept long-term for accounting and tax purposes
13. Children’s privacy
FebHop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
14. Your choices
You can view, change or delete the data stored on your computer in the App, and view your account, remove devices, delete cloud backups or delete the account in the App or on the website. For questions or requests about information we handle, contact us.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post changes on this page and update the date at the top.
